Friends of Radnor Gardens and members of Richmond in Europe (REA) were honoured to participate in the planting of a new monkey puzzle or Chilean pine tree (Araucaria araucana) in Radnor Gardens. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Richmond and Wandsworth Parks and Open Spaces officers who facilitated this planting.
We are currently in discussions with Richmond’s Parks and Opens Spaces team to locate a suitable replacement for the Indian bean (Catalpa speciosa) tree. Given its historical significance to the site and its ability to thrive in wet conditions, the Indian bean is being considered. The previous Catalpa tree was dearly cherished and its replacement would be warmly received.
The planting of the new tree will be coordinated during the next planting season, coinciding with the remembrance ceremony.
